Founded in Lugano in 1999 and managed by a private, no-profit foundation, Cardiocentro Ticino is a state-of-the art heart specialized university clinic with a keen educational and research-oriented vocation. Since its foundation, Cardiocentro has been strongly investing in research and innovation, believing that health care primacy can be only pursued through direct contribution to the evolution of scientific thought and by bringing to the patient the best competences and the newest therapies as soon as they become available. Over the years, Cardiocentro Ticino has been conducting research in different fields: from cardiovascular medicine to pharmacology, from molecular biology to the implementation of advanced therapies combining medicine and biology for the development of new pharmacobiological treatments, up to interdisciplinary research, blending the world of social sciences with that of technical sciences in the service and for the development of medical devices for treatment and diagnostic purposes in the area of diseases of the cardiocirculatory system.
Founding member of the SIRM initiative, Cardiocentro Ticino transfered his regenerative medicine research groups in Taverne in 2013.
Since 2012, it’s also officially an associated institute of the University of Zurich.
